Sefton, Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre

Contract Period
6 months, August 2007 - January 2008
Lead Consultant
Sally Thomas

Project Description
SRC were commissioned by Sefton Council to provide independent, impartial advice on the future of Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre as a sustainable neighbourhood centre.

The Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre has an important role in a changing community, providing much-needed services, but it is housed in a poor quality building and needs some changes. It needs to be refurbished or replaced, in its current location or elsewhere in the neighbourhood.

Consultation on the options for the future of the Neighbourhood Centre involved a range of local groups including centre users, the wider community and local agencies and organisations, It found out what people thought about the different options for development of the Centre, what services could be offered, which agencies were interested in providing services from the Centre and other issues related to its future.
An option appraisal on the benefits / costs of each potential alternative scenario - be it refurbishment or new build in its current location or an alternative and 3 year business plan are the main outputs from the work.
