Extensive experience in the social and community sector, working for national and regional government agencies and housing associations, including the Housing Corporation, and Tyne and Wear Development Corporation.

Assistant Director at Tyne and Wear Development Corporation, responsible for devising and implementing a major social and community development programme.

National reputation in the field of community development, neighbourhood management and social regeneration; spoken at many conferences and seminars.

Completed two research projects for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on community development, one in partnership with the European Institute for Urban Affairs.

Specialist expertise in project managing extensive programmes of community consultation as part of large-scale regeneration strategies involving multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsible for the development of pioneering approaches to community engagement and development in Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder areas, including advising DCLG and the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Specialist expertise in neighbourhood management, advising on the feasibility, development, implementation and evaluation of neighbourhood management initiatives.

Leading a programme of community engagement in the development of four neighbourhood actions plans for Gateshead MBC as part of the Bridging Newcastle                Gateshead Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder programme.


Walker Riverside, Newcastle

Managing the consultation process as part of the statutory consultation period for the development of an Area Action Plan in an area of 6,000 households within new planning legislation.


West Hull

Advising Manchester City Council on community consultation for the development of a strategic framework for the north part of the City, part of the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder area.

Managing stakeholder consultation and workshop facilitation for the East Lancashire and Birmingham and Sandwell Housing Market Renewal Pathfinders (Urban Living      and Elevate), both with GVA Grimley.


Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland, Hyndburn and North Benwell, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Advising Hartlepool NDC, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and Hyndburn Borough Council on the development and implementation of neighbourhood management.

Developing a partnership structure for the North Benwell Neighbourhood Management initiative and carrying out an evaluation of progress across the programme.


Milton Keynes and Corby

Co-ordinated community consultation on a masterplan for Central Milton Keynes, for Milton Keynes Council and English Partnerships, and on a borough regeneration strategy and town centre masterplan for Corby for Catalyst Corby, the Urban Regeneration Company.


Sunderland ARC

Project manager for an extensive neighbourhood planning programme in Sunderland, commissioned by One NorthEast and the City Council, covering 65,000 households.

Advising the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister on performance management for the neighbourhood renewal community programmes
