Successful Neighbourhoods

Successful Neighbourhoods: A Good Practice Guide was researched and written by our two Directors, Pete Duncan and Sally Thomas, with a lot of help from Rose McGinty, a member of our staff team.

Published by the Chartered Institute of Housing, the Guide has also been endorsed by the Housing Corporation and Communities and Local Government.

It looks at how unsuccessful neighbourhoods can be turned into successful ones and the role housing providers can and should play in making it happen. It places a strong emphasis on the importance of empowering local communities as equal partners in neighbourhood renewal and management, as part of the Government’s localism agenda.

The Guide has taken 18 months to hit the streets. We talked to more than 70 case studies across England and Wales, ploughed our way through more than 155 publications and distilled it all into 142 pages.

Copies of the Guide can be obtained from http://www.cih.org/publications/pub652.htm
