Urban Masterplanning

SRC's work on urban masterplanning has been extensive and intensive. It has taken us to 6 of the 9 Housing Market Renewal Pathfinders and several non-Pathfinder areas, and a number of places where housing markets are stable but masterplanning is need to reinvigorate tired and worn out settlements.. We work strategically and locally. We have been centrally involved in numerous Community Plans, Area Development Frameworks, Neighbourhood Action Plans and Neighbourhood Renewal Assessments. We work closely with a number of international planning consultants.

We have built up unrivalled expertise in the social and community aspects of urban masterplanning. Our work in HMR Pathfinder areas is now well known. Our long experience has been extensively quoted in the 2007 Chartered Institute of Housing publication ‘Community Engagement in Housing-Led Regeneration'.

In other areas, we have:

<><>
acted as advisor on community engagement and independent chair of a Consultation Panel for a major new JRF village development in York
conducted an in-depth social and community review of the Manningham neighbourhood in Bradford, as a central part of a City-Council sponsored masterplan
led a consultancy team and employed local residents to help draw up a community housing plan for the New Deal for Communities area in Hartlepool. The Plan is now being implemented by Hartlepool Revival
Led a consultancy team in Drumchapel, Glasgow, producing a Community Plan for the future of this large neighbourhood, for Glasgow Alliance
SRC has helped re-plan town centres in Corby and Milton Keynes
