Research and delivery support for the ‘Communities, Neighbourhood and Localities Hub’

Background Information

As research and delivery partner to IDeA's Hub 3, the ‘communities, neighbourhoods and localities' group, SRC helped hub members improve the way they work with communities to deliver community empowerment at local level.

This involved the development of a community empowerment mapping tool; a model empowerment plan and guidance on how to ensure that community views influence services in neighbourhoods / localities to provide an integrated and comprehensive approach to achieving empowerment in communities, neighbourhoods and localities.

The tools enable local authorities and their partners to find out what is happening (mapping), plan for improvement (planning) and ensure that community priorities affect service plans (acting). The tools are part of a wider project to develop guidance and support materials to local authorities as part of the Network of Empowering Authorities programme.

The research for the tools was extensive and involved:

•  8 NEA Hub 3 local authorities
• 6 non-NEA local authorities
• 7 Regional Empowerment Partnerships
• 3 strategic agencies
