Manse Farm, Knaresborough

Background Information

Commercial Estates Group (CEG) is proposing to develop a masterplan for a sustainable mixed-use development of the 41-hectare Manse Farm site in Knaresborough. The work on this scheme is at a very early stage although it is likely that the development will include a combination of a range of housing, a percentage of which would be affordable in line with Council policy, some business uses, open spaces and parkland and a range of social and community facilities.

Prior to any planning application, CEG is committed to a process of consulting both the local community and relevant stakeholders. Social Regeneration Consultants (SRC) has been commissioned by CEG to develop and deliver a Community Engagement Strategy in relation to this.

The first stage has involved an information collection process and the development of a neighbourhood/site profile to ensure a firm baseline for the consultation that is now about to take place.

A Communications Strategy will also be produced aimed at raising awareness and generally ‘getting the message across’ and keeping local people informed of progress.

The first stage of this consultation will be a series of informal interviews with key members of the community and representatives of local organisations, businesses, agencies and special interest groups. This initial stage will be followed a number of other consultation stages.
